San Francisco ShEvil Dead is hungry. For the past three seasons, the roller derby squad has gone 1-12. That’s right: They’ve lost 12 matches and won 1. A record like that makes a skating zombie ravenous — ShEvil Dead, part of the B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls league, is all-girl, undead, and desperate for more blood than usual. Tonight, that blood is in the veins of the Boardwalk Bombshells, a squad of fighters from the Santa Cruz Derby Girls. At Beach Blanket Massacre, some may get spilled, some may be forcibly removed. It’s flat-track racing, meaning the skaters don’t have curved banks to keep them from spinning off into the universe; they rely on their thighs to hold the line. If they don't, bad things happen. Bad things could happen to the Santa Cruz Derby Girls.
