Perhaps you’ve seen Original Plumbing around town — it's a gorgeous new female-to-male transsexual lifestyle magazine created by photographer Amos Mac and rapper Rocco Kayiatos. The third issue has just hit the newsstands, with the theme “Health and Safer Sex.” It’s filled with gorgeous photos glorifying the trans male body in its myriad shapes, with or without hormones, frequently naked. There are also interviews and all manner of information, such as herbal recipes and potions beneficial to the man on testosterone. It is both entertainment and resource! Mac and Kayiatos’ endless curatorial enthusiasm led them to create tonight’s show, "A Spot of T." A batch of FTM artists ruminate on what it means to be man, using their art. The Testosterone Files author Max Wolf Valerio tells stories; N.Y.C.’s Mr. Coney Island, Glenn Marla, commits performance art; the charming and talented Chris Vargas shows comedic films; and so much more. Kayiatos, aka Katastrophe, MCs, and gets your rump thumpin’ with a few songs of his own. These wildly diverse artists have no time for notions of authenticity or uptight concepts of what it means to be a man; they just kick it down so you can live it up. If you’re really feeling it and don’t want the party to stop, come to "Unofficial," the Original Plumbing post-trans-march party at the Elbo Room tomorrow night.
