Alto Means "Cut It Out?"

This past May, a caravan of working people from San Francisco headed to Phoenix, Ariz., not to swing woods and irons, but to join a protest against the state’s recent anti-immigrant law, SB 1070. Our fine town sent folks from various contingents, including Service Employees International Union 1020, Community Housing Partnership, and an Asian-Pacific Islander delegation. As part of LaborFest 2010, Alto Arizona: Rank and File Voices in Solidarity With Immigrant Workers features reports from attendees and a discussion about future actions: It's an opportunity to share ideas about what more can be done to encourage equality in Arizona. If you’re feeling powerless or disconnected from the forces of positivity in a bleak moment, tonight’s action-oriented information-share will get you out of the sand trap..
