Hit Me

We’re getting a damn good dose of sharp humor and political intelligence dressed in a fake news show these days, and if we’re lucky, it’ll continue indefinitely, like The Simpsons. If you’d like a little more drag in your brainy laughs, perhaps more four-part harmonies and sorbet-colored frocks, the Kinsey Sicks are your dream come true. Four gals — fully developed characters with backstories to boot — engage in scenarios and exchanges that invariably lead to song at the latest stage show, Each Hit and I. It can sound reductive to label gay acts “campy,” but the Kinsey Sicks merit the adjective in its best, cheeky form. Combining original songs with parodies of popular tunes, they have put on their show in myriad venues and countries, including NYC’s Studio 54 and an extended run at the Hilton in Las Vegas. The San Francisco run celebrates the release of their seventh album.
