"Now I only have two things … my friends, and my thermos." Steve Martin delivers this line at the beginning of The Jerk. At the end, he elaborates: "I don't need anything! Except this. This ashtray. That's the only thing I need is this. … Just this ashtray! And this paddle game. The ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need. And this remote control.” At This Is All I Need, physical theater company Mugwumpin presents a play culled from answers to the question: What do you need? The company is known and adored for its offbeat productions that often take place in nontheater spaces, although this production is in a stage-ish space. Mugwumpin actors jump around a lot, sing loudly, and recite intelligent lines in wise and funny tones; maybe they can help you figure out whether that paddle game is really what you need.
