Anchored with an analog pulse and propelled by symphonic harmonic sweeps, his DJ sets bang tightly one moment and let off clusters of frayed, stuttering tracers the next. Appearing with Flügel this Saturday is Motor City Drum Ensemble, aka Danilo Plessow, whose name pays homage to both his hometown of Stuttgart and the sound of Detroit techno — though with rubbery bass, vamping soul samples, and heavy thumps, his raw cuts often build slowly in a crackling Chicago style. Motor City sets draw together circular funk chords, scuffed drum clatter, and deep house melodic grooves.
