To Infinity and Beyond

You’ve planted a garden, sewn yourself overalls, converted your car to biodiesel, and started a zine to disperse vital subcultural information. What next? Thank you for asking! Take your DIY savvy to Star Trek heights and build some cosmic toys with your kid. Or someone else’s kid (is there a City Car Share–style business for borrowing children yet? In which they’re clean and pre-fed?). Today’s event, The Physics of Toys: Space, the Final Frontier, invites kids to build rockets and other space-age toys. Belly up to a table and assemble your unique vision for futuristic play pieces from a variety of shapes and materials. All supplies are provided at no additional cost beyond the entry fee. Each month brings a new Physics of Toys theme: October will be “Round and Round in Circles,” in which kids make toys that teach the science behind circular motions. Watch out for the spins! In the meantime, shoot the moon.
