Men who abuse guitars. Men who scream like sexy monkeys. Men who are completely fucking nuts. The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Thee Oh Sees: What else can you call this show? Two bands dedicated to bad behavior, loud throbbing, and tight pants for everyone — some have called it the year's best party. Two recent rereleases of material from JSBX's lusted-after mid-'90s heyday are in the blog headlights these days, as are the rubberized denim pants Spencer wore at the Pitchfork Music Festival this summer. Thee Oh Sees, as our local garage superhero outfit, is bad and beautiful, evil and effervescent — audiences always flip out to the stomping, weird pop-rock glory.
