What neighborhoods in San Francisco are known as arts and cultural centers? SoMa? Sure. (Rhymes with MOMA.) The Mission? You bet. The Haight? OK. Potrero? Check. How about Civic Center? Well, OK, but it has a reputation for being the kind of place you get into – and out of – as soon as possible for whatever reason you go there, artistic or otherwise. 24 Days of Central Market Arts is attempting to change that perception. Starting on Friday, Sept. 24, and going through Sunday, Oct. 17, numerous visual and performing arts organizations will have events designed to showcase the area as a viable arts district. And it’s not a bad lineup. Participants include CounterPULSE, Exit Theatre, the Luggage Store Gallery, the Garage, Gray Area Foundation for the Arts, and Kunst-Stoff Arts. See the full lineup on the event’s website.
