If you've yet to experience Brooklyn sextet Dirty Projectors live, just know this: They're the kind of musical mavericks the Queen of Kook, Björk, performs with in New York bookstores; they once collaborated with that other eccentric legend, David Byrne; and one of their seven albums is entirely dedicated to reinterpreting Black Flag's Damaged (in a manner that sounds absolutely nothing like Black Flag). Embracing both folksy aesthetics and arthouse experimentalism, their far-reaching vision encompasses so many musical genres and eras that they are impossible to classify. On Sept. 28, they're releasing an expanded edition of last year's masterful album, Bitte Orca.
