Driven to Insanity

Muni is the municipal equivalent of Lindsay Lohan. Everything appears to be going fine: The door closes, the bus moves away from the curb, your headphones go on, then bam: Someone opens a can of tuna, someone goes after toe jam, someone tries to read your book with you, someone poofs a triple-thunder bottom bomb, a crafty schoolroom creeper, or a nebulous after-dinner mint. Weirdness arrives, from all its unexpected and redolent directions. The details appear almost immediately online, via Muni Diaries and its excellent Twitter feed, our own TMZ for the public transportation set. Tonight, the site moves to the stage with its fourth storytelling night, Muni Diaries Live! The Halloween-show lineup is scary-good, featuring the Rumpus jack-of-all-trades Isaac Fitzgerald, Fray Magazine's Derek Powazek, writer Andrew Lam, and comedian Bucky Sinister — who has probably suffered through more hours on the bus than all of them.
