Hailing from Barcelona, and naming its latest album Subiza after the Basque town in which it was recorded, Spanish four-piece Delorean has risen to prominence as a sort of Balearic club primer updated for indie kids. Seemingly written for an open-air rave on some Mediterranean isle, the arrangements on Subiza play out as vespers to fading days, with iridescent synths ebbing and flowing against a vista of balmy, persistent rhythm. Anyone can program a radiant arpeggio or a breezy beat, but Delorean has packed the influences of Italo disco, dub, and house alongside rock instrumentation. The result works for both public bliss-out and private make-out sessions.
