Black Christmas

Wednesday, Dec 1 2010
‘Tis the season, we’re reminded ad nauseam, for peace and good will toward all men (and, we assume, all others as well). Fine. But something’s missing, don’t you think? Where’s the indiscreet, hot-under-the-collar, and wet-under-the-waistband lust? Shouldn't that be an integral part of the holiday spirit? Fuck yeah (to cite the new and wholly appropriate city motto). You’ll find it in spades at Noël Noir, a music, film, and fashion-filled bash and benefit conveniently duded up as a pickup scene. A gay thread runs through the evening, and not just because the Nunway Noir couture show features the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Killer sets by local heroes Jill Tracy, ejector, Sonny and the Sunsets, and Hottub offer ample opportunity to move, groove and check out the boys. If somehow you still aren't in the mood, slip into "Luminous Darkness," a program of aggressively over-the-line queer shorts by the likes of Gio Black Peter and Bruce LaBruce, followed by a steamy surprise midnight movie. The setting calls for your sexiest holiday garb. Or you could just, um, come as you are.
