We've said it before and we'll say it again: See dance live onstage, or you haven't seen it at all. No videographer or cameraholder on Earth ever focuses on the important part of a really accomplished dancer, which is every part at once, especially the feet. Likewise, no film editor is able to resist fades, double images, or other effects that make the thing practically unwatchable and that disrespect the dancer. If you were to, say, go online to find out about Caminos Flamencos, a thrilling local flamenco company, you'd find images of a group as taut as a guitar string and as complicated as a fancy pastry. But they'd be adulterated, and this would infuriate you. Do it anyway; they're still very beautiful. But at Lo Clásico, you can see flamenco as it should be, with feet. Company leader Yaelisa performs her Soleares, the company does La Danza del Fuego, and featured performers include Jesus Montoya, Felix de Lola, Jason McGuire, Melissa Cruz, Fanny Ara, and Marina Elana.
