Nobody seems to know about it, but film heaven lives on on Capp Street. Not only is this hidden treasure a cinema cathedral stacked floor to ceiling with film canisters, each with its tape-strip title band, and not only does archivist Stephen Parr curate them like a wizard, but this is the final resting place of the beloved 17 Reasons sign -- it's a big place. Several projectors -- 16 mm, 35 mm, and even Super 8 -- all point at a big creamy screen in the archive's homey viewing corner, and that's where the magic happens. Guest curator Pete Gowdy makes selections from the stacks tonight to create a program called “Weirdsville 22.” When we say stacks, you must picture the aisle that holds seven cans labeled “I Had an Idea,” “I Am Wheat,” “The Hydra,” “Eating Right with Harv and Marv,” “The Huffless Puffless Dragon,” “How We Travel in the City,” and “Hailstones and Halibut Bones, Part 2.” Get there early to find your own favorite can stack, and don't forget to RSVP to info@oddballfilm.com.
