Roach Gigz doesn't lack for confidence. A San Francisco native, the plucky young rapper's two Roachy Balboa mixtapes are packed with brags about his brilliance. Over a euphoric synth-propelled beat, current single "The Dopest 2" has him spitting, "Mr. Balboa, the lyrical flamethrower/The miracle ain't over/I'm warning you, I'm just getting started." The confidence isn't misplaced though. Thanks to lacing his punchlines with an almost Eminem-esque strain of wicked humor, Gigz comes over as raffishly likable, not arrogant. Selected as one of KMEL's 10 Bay Area rappers to look out for in 2010, Gigz will release his debut album, Therapy Sessions, in the fall. If it's up to the standard of his mixtapes, the Bay's posthyphy future looks bright.
