Odd Future is finally coming back to S.F. The 10-plus members of this don't-give-a-fuck L.A. collective, all of whom are under 21, have played in S.F. before, although not since gaining national attention for their edgy, thrown-together sound. But it's the blunt, gleefully distasteful references to skateboarding, weed, rape, random violence, and Steve Harvey (whom they hate) that have infuriated the group's critics, unified its defenders, and raised its profile. Led by the dark rhymes and forward-looking beats of the charismatic and seemingly insane Tyler the Creator, expect Odd Future's S.F. show to be nothing short of madness, a night where the party in the crowd will be just as interesting as what's happening onstage. Unfortunately, the crew's lyrical ace, Earl Sweatshirt, is still missing — he's rumored to be in a disciplinary boot camp — but Left Brain, Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis, Mike G, and the rest should all be there. If you need an introduction to Odd Future, check out its collective mixtape, Radical.
