I Could Just Eat You Up

Kids. They can drive people crazy. Especially when they're not really kids, but rather some type of animated warm sticky foodstuff like a pork dumpling. And these kid/food things, they're even more troubling when they channel the voices inside one's own head, maybe those Freudian mental components like the ego, the superego, and the id. Welcome to A Three Little Dumpling Adventure, a one-act play in which mommy and daddy have it out at home with their representations of offspring. It's part of the Bay One Acts Festival, which sees the best of smaller theater companies performing the works of local playwrights. Companies such as PianoFight, No Nude Men Productions, 11th Hour Ensemble, the Playwright's Center of San Francisco, and Woman's Will lend production, directing, and acting talent to 11 locally written short plays. The works are shown in sets of five and six at time, and discussions with playwrights, directors, and casts are held after each performance. Rumor has it there's an opening-night party at a nearby establishment after the second set. We wonder whether pork dumplings will be served.
Wednesdays-Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: March 6. Continues through March 26, 2011
