What Galore?

Once inside the tiny theater with 007 James Bond in Ladykiller: Live stomping the boards in front of you, prepare for low-production-value guilty pleasure, emphasis on the pleasure -- true of all playwright etc. Jim Fourniadis' productions, but especially true now, because: Bond! Featuring a cast of regulars from this madcap recap federation (many have appeared in stage adaptations of The Twilight Zone, the Batman TV show, and The Shining, just to name a few.), Ladykiller claims to have everything: gypsy-wrestling, Pussy Galore, a ski chase, long guns. If you know how small the stage is, you're already laughing, because you know you're about to see a hand or hands tossing “snow” at a “tuxedo”-clad Steffanos X. The online trailer features a genuinely satisfying version of our favorite part of any Bond film: The silhouetted dancing babe. Why isn't there a “Bond Babe Style” dance class in this damn town? And why doesn't said babe get credit on YouTube? Such feminist analysis can't unsnarl the absurdity of Ladykiller; it's a guilty pleasure, remember? (Besides, the babe is probably one of the producers or something.)
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: March 4. Continues through March 26, 2011
