The psychedelic light show is only the beginning at “Lunar Mission.” Because elsewhere, cocktails are artworks, movies roam the streets, and you can stroke a piano’s guts. Eight art galleries grouped up to plan a night of intense, special programming — art for art’s sake. Famous names include the crew at Kadist — Larry Rinder is in on it, and so is Tony Labat — who plan to open a series of storefronts, one of which functions as a reading room for awesome art magazines. Participating galleries are Southern Exposure, Triple Base, Galería de la Raza, Steven Wolf, Gallery Hijinks, Eleanor Harwood, and Guerrero Gallery, plus the new and amorphous-ish Kadist. SoEx, ever hard to predict, offers “Sipping Station,” with specially made artists’ drinks, and that light show is at Eleanor Harwood with musician Jeffrey Manson.
