Baby chicks are cute; they waddle about, chirp, and make you feel guilty about eating chicken. Spring to Life, an exhibit dedicated to cute birds and science, is all about making you learn about these little guys with art mixed in for good measure. Enjoy a stroll down “Egg Alley,” and take a gander at a diverse collection of eggs and nests from the Academy's research collection. It includes eggs of different shape and color, and features the smallest and largest eggs produced by living birds. You can also look for the photography of Sharon Beals alongside Michael Bartalos's installation Handle with Care, a collection of artwork created from recycled materials. Biologists provide daily care for the incubating eggs and newly hatched chicks so you have the opportunity to see firsthand what this life stuff is really all about. Let us relish the company of fluffy chicks and really big eggs.
Mondays-Saturdays, 9:30 a.m.; Sundays, 11 a.m. Starts: March 14. Continues through May 1, 2011
