The Seven Birds You Can’t Say on TV

It’s always risky to speak on behalf of the dead, but it seems safe to say that the dearly departed dean of filth himself would approve of “7 Dirty Girls: A Burlesque Tribute to George Carlin,” a show inspired by his infamous “Seven Dirty Words” sketch. His 1972 monologue still packs a punch, even if the words shit, piss, cunt, fuck, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits are more culturally acceptable than they were four decades ago. Declaring him “the greatest comedian of our time” in their promo materials, the salacious women in the Curvicious Cabaret are clearly admirers of the comic, and they promise an “uncensored burlesque tribute” to Carlin and his legendary riff. Each member of the cabaret embodies one of the offending words: Honey Lawless as “cocksucker,” Lady Satan as “motherfucker,” and so on, in a performance so raunchy it could make the king of cuss words blush. The new cabaret troupe is intent on delivering performances that are sexy, funny, smart, and provocative during its monthly themed shows. Paying tribute to filthy yet whip-smart Carlin is a fitting way to get things rolling, promising a show that arouses the body and the mind.
