The two-headed musical mutant known as Lightning Bolt will soon descend upon worshipers of its ironclad bass riffs and blasting beats for another iteration of what has made the band unique for 16 years and counting: a notoriously mind-blowing live performance. Drummer Brian Chippendale and bassist Brian Gibson are technical, precise, and emphatically energetic musicians; with their skills, the two concoct a hypnotic brand of neon-colored grindcore that deftly rides the line between the punishment of a root canal and the wondrous joy of a rainbow.
