Dance Emergency

Bianca Cabrera is a really, really, really accomplished dancer. She trained in the Martha Graham technique, for one thing, and anyone who’s even tried that shit can tell you it’s like the military of dance. A person performing Graham technique has ideal musculature, especially in the feet, and isolation control to the point of being able to pulse a kidney without anything else moving. Cabrera also trained with the mighty mighty Alvin Ailey company, and though she came to us from Seattle, she has already performed with local powerhouse Kim Epifano. At “Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!” Cabrera’s artistic residency takes the form of a series of Wednesday shows named Gorge-ous (missed this one, it was May 4); tonight’s show, Camp Songs; and the last two, May I be Frank? and Dance off! Hands On! They are, she promises, about “showgirls, cowgirls, boygirls,” and more.
Wednesdays, 9 p.m. Starts: May 11. Continues through May 25, 2011
