And lo, there shall be a sign that the end times are upon us. Almost five thousand of them, in fact, declaring this May 21 "Judgment Day," apparently the biggest news in area billboards since the Beatles hit iTunes.
Bought and paid for by Oakland's Family Radio, these end-of-times announcements turn up not just on Muni, BART, and area billboards but are also flung throughout the world, including 450 in India. A Good Housekeeping–style seal on each promises "The Bible Guarantees It," and a line of scripture commands that beholders "Cry mightily unto God."
Uncertain whether we should bother continuing to make our student loan payments, SF Weekly asked Harold Camping, Family Church's president (and a '62 UC Berkeley grad!) to give us the lowdown on the last days.
The Jehovah's Witnesses pegged a date in the 70s for the last day and got it wrong. How can you be sure?
Until 1988, the Bible assured us that nobody could know the time. Now God has given us magnificent proof and some significant signs that May 21 is the day. The Bible is absolutely dependable and certain on this.
[Here, Camping chapters-and-verses numbers from Genesis and Peter and then works some math. His conclusion: "If we substitute 1,000 years for each of the seven days, 2011 is exactly 7,000 years from the Flood."]
What is that recent proof?
God has given us an enormous amount of proof, like the gay pride movement and the extraordinary amount of wickedness in the world.
Do you consider the end of the world good news?
I'll tell you, it's a mixed bag. Everybody here knows children, husbands, and wives who mock and don't believe this. On May 21st they'll be entering Judgment Day, and that will be sad, sad, sad.
So, the just are raptured on the 21st, right? What happens to the rest of us?
The wages of sin is death. There will be huge earthquakes and death everywhere. God will throw open all the graves, and the bodies of the unsaved will be thrown out like — this is the word God uses — dung or manure. Then after a five-month period the world will be annihilated, and there will be no memory of it. When you're dead, you're dead. You'll have no conscious existence.
That's different than what most churches say.
There is no eternal suffering. That's been a club the Church has used to bring people into their congregations. We're not a church. God is no longer working through churches. Every church has its own doctrine. We have the Bible.
What if it doesn't happen? Can we give you a call on the 22nd?
If I tried to answer that, it would indicate I have some tiny bit of doubt. I do not. On May 21st, judgment will happen.

CALL HIM! CALL HIM!
There is one point that Christians miss about the Bible and Judgment Day. Jesus repeatedly claimed that the end of times would happen during the lifetime of those to whom he was speaking in his presence. The theme of the New Testament is that the end was near and that believers should not concerned themselves with issues of the world but to prepare for the rapture. Jesus also told the apostles to not preach to Gentiles or Samaritans, but to the Jews.
Bring it on, I say! Seems to me that if the socalled xians have to get judged on their own rules they are in for a serious surprise . .. when the elevator goes down .. . . I would love a real judgement day because most of the xians would be "left behind"
maybe this idiot should read the whole bible .2 Peter 3:10-13
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
most thieves in the night don't come when expected.
Oh yeah and all those people who say no man can know the day or the hour,no not the son.The bible is talking about the son of perdition. SATAN IS ALSO THE SON. A FALLEN ANGEL.
There only one other man who predicted 2011 "the late great BILL COOPER" in 1992.But if i told you, or you saw the video on you tube, you will be frightened!!HE WAS IN THE OFFICE OF NAVAL INTELLIGENCE.R.I.P.BILL
And hearld said " CHRISTIANS WILL GO TO HEAVEN AND EVERY ONE EALSE WILL BE TOURCHERED FOR 5 MONTHS BY JESUS AND JESUS WILL BE KING OF THE WORLD FOR 5 MONTHS AND THEN GOD WILL DESTROY THE WORLD BEACUSE HE CAN ". Now JESUS the man that died on the cross for every one's sins, Do you think he would really tourcher non christians?
It sounds like the radio is trying to make money and get it's rating's up to me. LIKE THE BIBLE SAIDS.... " NO ONE CAN PREDICT THE END OF THE WORLD " NOT EVEN NOAH WHEN HE BUILT THE ARK... YA IT FLOODED BUT HE DID'NT MAKE IT FAR. AND THE WORLD DID'NT END.
Then how do they interperet the part where the Bible says no one knows the day nor the hour??!! (Matthew 25:13 and Mark 13:32) You cannot predict the day God will come back therefore I'm nearly 100% certain it will NOT be May 21...if I were God, I'd do it on the 23rd just to mess with them LOL
I saw there is a new billboard that went up on the San Fran Skyway near the Baybridge from another group that challenges Camping. They have a websitewww.merkaba.org Does anything know anything about them? Is there some sort of billboard war going on?

Just read Corinthians, or any of the rest of the bible. This entire page is filled with skewed doctrine, i pray for this radio station and the people that believe this...
This is going to turn out like the "Great Disappointment".http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G...
HELP! I need to photograph one of these billboards in SF... anyone seen one? The 9th & Harrison Shell station had one last week but now it's gone....
I'm afraid that this brother is deceived by his own arrogance. The Scriptures are of no private interpretation. Having one Holy Spirit in each of us, teaching us and interpreting the Bible, we would see the same truth. Only Camping seems to know about the date of the food (4900 AD) and the baffling math borders on mysticism. The Word is replete with its affirmation that no one knows when the Son of Man will return, only that we must always be ready if we want to receive that crown because He shall come as a thief in the night. As Dr Vines used to say, if he were God and somebody, just by accident, happened to pick the right date that God was to return, he would change it just to mess him up, LOL. Instead, Harold Camping will be telling us for eternity: "I told you so, I told you so..."
Counterpoint: Wikipedia's article on the "Great Disappointment". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G...
Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness [is] great. - Joel 3:13 KJV
Harold Camping is a clown. No True Christian would follow him. He is an arrogant Old man lost in his own numbers( I am amazed that any Believer would listen to this man or leave church..so foolish)
He hates churches and is a lost soul
He is not Different from Jevohah wittnesses or others SEE VIDEO http://haroldcamping-21.blogsp...
Not only is the so-called “Rapture” NOT going to occur on May 21st, it isn’t going to occur EVER. And I can promise you this with absolute 100% certainty. There will be no “Rapture,” no “Second Coming,” no “End Of Days.” There most certainly will continue to be wars, plagues, and natural disasters as there have always been, but there won’t be anything supernatural about them. And most importantly there is no such thing as “prophecy” … except for the self-fulfilling kind.
In a perverse sort of way, I actually WISH that Harold Camping was right! What an interesting day that would be! What would be even more interesting is if the Apocalypse were to occur in a more spectacular fashion, not in the anthropomorphical sense the authors of the "Left Behind" series have portrayed, but as more of a Stephen Spielberg production, with boiling clouds, trumpets, angels descending out of the sky, Moon turned to blood, the whole nine yards. Imagine coming to the realization that it was all coming true, just as the evangelists had been warning for years, and that there was something more awesome than just the cold, hard, physical reality we inhabit. Imagine actually watching people disappear into thin air! Wouldn't THAT be something???
Yet in the final analysis, it's that cold, hard, physical reality that I will content myself with. My life is not so meaningless that I need the fear of a "Rapture" and the "End Times" to make sense of it all ... nor do I need Heaven or Hell to bribe me into behaving decently, thank you very much.
Since the death of Jesus, people in every generation for over 2,000 years and hundreds of generations have wanted to be the one that experiences the end of days. None has. There must be a clue in there somewhere for you.
If you waited at a bus stop for 2,000 years, at what point would you conclude that the bus wasn't coming? Or would you just stand there … FOREVER … because somebody had stuck up a "bus stop" sign?
One thing I know for sure: Harold Camping will probably be making himself scarce on May twenty-SECOND, because there are going to be lot of very pissed-off people looking for him!
Harold Camping is NOT a Christian; all his Bible messages are from his OWN mind.
He says Trust the Bible and we do…just NOT HIS BIBLE INTERPRETATIONS
He is a devil, He wants people to leave church and believe his stupid interpretations
No true Christian would listen to this man
He is ruining families SEE HERE http://haroldcamping-21.blogsp...
If this is true then the Bible should have pleny of evidence to support it. I have looked into the matter and have found out that The Bible does have plenty of evidence to support May 21st, 2011 as Judgment Day....In fact The Bible declares May 21st, 2011 as Judgment Day.....................................................................................................................................................................www.familyradio.com....................................................................................................................................There is no more serious matter to look into......Why not look into what is in the Bible, in relation to The Last Day?

Could you guys please do a follow-up article on this on May 22nd? I'd LOVE to hear this guy's lame-ass explanation for why it didn't happen.
This has been done before with various cults and fringe movements, What will happen is on May 22 they joyously announce that due to their unceasing faith and good works by said group the world was judged to not be wicked and these brave people bought us more time.
Brother Camping has predicted the end of the world before, a few years back. He didn't claim to have bought us more time, he decided he must have made a mistake interpreting something and went and checked all his arithmetic and readings of Bible passages that might say something about it, and announced that he'd gotten the date wrong and it was now this coming May 21.
I suspect he won't fix the date again - he'll probably go back to deciding that nobody can know the day or the hour beforehand, and try to see how he got that one wrong.
That's why these people need to learn about the one true faith, the Church of the SubGenius and X-Day
Harold Camping is NOT a Christian and a foolish Old man. He has a Satanic Agenda against the Churches. His Bible Interpretations are not accepted anywhere in the World. No true Christian would listen to him.
The man is straight from Hell and he is ruining families SEE HERE
