List: How $248 Million Will Improve S.F. Streets

Mayor Ed Lee has proposed spending $248 million to improve city sidewalks and streets. What would the money pay for?

• Getting the pot smell out

• Creating handicapped bike lanes

• Installing "smart meters" and then replacing them after they've been stripped for parts

• Three city workers' pensions

• A campaign to raise awareness of the need for adequately surfaced streets, especially among poor and minority pedestrian populations

• Installing traffic signals that are easier for cyclists to ignore

• Mostly just cleaning up after Bay 2 Breakers

Perfect.

At every SF election I approach the ballot saying, "what have you done with the money we already gave you?" while the rest of the electorate is apparently saying "I want a whole lotta lumps!"
