At 3rd is Queer Eye tonight, the South Asian independent film festival screens Asoka Handagamas 2002 feature, Flying with One Wing. Its billed as A Sri Lankan cross between Fassbinder and Boys Dont Cry, and it looks amazing. The second night of this minifestival involves live performances on the subject of queer lives in India, Pakistan, and beyond: Aniruddhan Vasudevan contributes a performance-monologue, Brihannala. Minal Hajratwala, just back from a Fulbright in India, reads from her book of poetry, The Unicorn at the Racetrack, as well as from her upcoming novel set 500 years in the future and the past.
