Despite a nearly unremitting presence on the indie rock dance party sound systems of 2002-2006, New York's tensely funk-addled post-punks the Rapture fell silent for five years — enough time to legitimize a new club generation, and turn rubbery bass rhythms into coveted currency. Cue In the Grace of Your Love (DFA), the band's return, though not a return to form, per se. Whereas the band used to ride the snare like a drunk hook-up, lubed with guitar scratch and saxophone skronk, now the Rapture is a trio laying down diffused synth grooves rich with soulful rattles. Segueing from jittery cowbell-flecked classics to piano house-influenced euphoria, the Rapture headlines the Blow Up Forever II party on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Factory.
