Cofounder of the Plus 8 record label with fellow Canadian Richie Hawtin, John Acquaviva quickly established himself as a core figure in the second wave of North American techno. In the two decades since, Acquaviva has maintained a consistent profile, exploring technology's bleeding edge as an early adopter of digital DJ software, and helping found Beatport.com. His analog-digital inclinations have led him to develop a vein of tech-house that's equal parts hermetic cadence and warm sibilance. Recent years have seen Acquaviva programming sets full of more heady swing and big-room-friendly swells.
