Margery Williams, your story The Velveteen Rabbit holds the power to make people cry just by mentioning it, you magnificent embarrasser of otherwise perfectly normal adults. ODC Dance's annual adaptation doesn't stint on the waterworks, but when it isn't rending audience hearts, there's plenty of visual gags, carnival-colored costumes, and jumpy choregraphy -- it's about rabbits, after all. Director and choreographer KT Nelson uses the hyperactively athletic ODC dancers to set a fast pace to the music of Benjamin Britten, and the production hosts several fun special events during its run. Our favorite is Real Rabbit Day on Dec. 3 and 4; the SaveABunny foundation brings rescue, um, excuse us, we got something in our eye ... Kids love the show, and invariably leave determined to be nicer to their stuffed animals.
Nov. 25-27; Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Nov. 25. Continues through Dec. 11, 2011
