And you don’t have to travel far. The Randall Museum, tucked in at the base of the Corona Heights Park, atop a hill in the Castro, hosts a Ceramic Studio Holiday Open House and Pottery Sale to showcase its charming studio space and handmade ceramic items. Created to bring children closer to nature, the museum takes pride in offering these rare opportunities to kids and their families. Adults, don’t get jealous, there’s room for you too. In fact, we were happier than children when we got to stand a foot away from a rescued hawk. The event has handmade items for sale, introduces the museum’s new teachers, and provides information on upcoming public ceramic classes. The ceramic studio offers electric as well as kick wheels, and all work is bisque-fired in the new electric kiln. There’s also a lapidary workshop — whatever that is.
