Metallibash
Thursday, Dec. 8 , at Kimo's (7 p.m., no advance tickets available)
For Whom the Bay Tolls
Friday, Dec. 9, at Thee Parkside. 9 p.m., $5;
Metallica turns 30 years old this week, and to celebrate, the local heavy metal juggernaut will be performing four intimate shows at the Fillmore — for fan club members only. You casual supporters could hang outside the Fillmore and moan, cry, or try to talk your way inside. But since weeping isn't acceptable behavior for metalheads, you might instead check out two smaller shows that are paying tribute to the lords of Bay Area heavy music with spirited performances of Metallica covers and originals. Metallibash will feature Latvian four-piece Relicseed, L.A.'s Damage, Inc., and a book-signing by rock journalist Lonn Friend. It goes down Thursday, Dec. 8 , at Kimo's (7 p.m., no advance tickets available). And on Friday, Dec. 9, Thee Parkside will host For Whom the Bay Tolls, a party with the Northern California chapter of the Met Club, featuring bands Witchaven, Exmortus, Midnight Chaser, and Tinnitus. 9 p.m., $5.
