On a weekend when the insiders of the music industry are converging upon a certain city in Texas, San Francisco is getting its own mini music, tech, and art confab. The Creators Project, a collaboration of Vice media and computer chip giant Intel, will mark its first West Coast appearance by bringing a fat roster of indie-minded musicians to Fort Mason, including the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Squarepusher, LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy (performing a DJ set), The Antlers, Zola Jesus, Shabazz Palaces, and more. With a selection of artists representing genres like indie rock, frenetic electronica, avant-garde hip-hop, and dance music, Saturday's performances should be plenty engrossing. But if they're not enough, the Creators Project also offers visual art installations, film screenings, and discussion panels. And somehow, attendance is free.
