Beats Antique: Show Preview

Beats Antique, the local trio of multi-instrumentalists David Satori and Tommy Chappel, and composer, arranger, and belly dancer Zoë Jakes, produces a psychedelic mash-up of Middle Eastern grooves, Balkan wedding music, flamenco, French gypsy jazz, hip-hop, dubstep, and glitchy electronica that would sound at home blasting in any club from New York to Cairo. True to the group's moniker, its members dig deep into traditional tonalities from all over the world, but the folkloric sounds they find get twisted into their own global groove. Their onstage blend of computer-generated sound, live instruments, and Jake's inventive dancing makes every performance unique.
