Celebrity Muscle

If fitness trainer Jillian Michaels suddenly appeared next to you at the gym, crushing standing calf-raises, would you work harder? How about Richard Simmons? Don’t lie: If the guy who pitches the Ab Roller on TV showed up, you’d be laying it down, blowing your abs up, in the hopes that he’d cast his minor-celebrity gaze approvingly your way. Don’t believe us? Prove it today at the Self Workout in the Park fitness festival. At 11 a.m. you can be there on the green, twisting your ass in the cold midmorning air with Dolvett Quince, Biggest Loser trainer and star, and Louis Van Amstel, Dancing with the Stars dance coach and LaBlast workout creator. Admit it, you’re curious. You want to know what it’s like to train with celebrity trainers, what the routine is, if it’s all for the cameras — fine by you, you can use a down day — or if these reality types really lay down the work. Squats. Lunges. LaBlast. In the cold morning air with a couple of C-listers and probably some Self magazine editorial staff handing out gift bags. What’s not to like? Besides, Buena Vista is just a short jog away for post-workout Irish coffees, in which you can burn those people to the ground (if they sucked) or raise a glass in esteem (if they trained you like a Loser).
