After an abortive attempt at recording a new Circle Jerks album, SoCal hardcore icon and original Black Flag singer Keith Morris formed OFF! with Burning Brides guitarist Dimitri Coats, writing some of the most potent and vitriolic songs of his long career. Powered by the monster rhythm section of Redd Kross bassist Steven McDonald and drummer Mario Rubalcaba (of Hot Snakes, Rocket from the Crypt, and Earthless fame), the band dazzled punks young and old with the caustic, minute-long blasts heard on 2010's First Four EPs. OFF! returns to S.F. to celebrate the band's brand new, eponymous follow-up with tuneful L.A. upstarts Fidlar and the raw Rubalcaba-fronted group Spider Fever on Friday, May 11, at Slim's.
