The Brothers Comatose know irony: This San Francisco quintet's brand of American roots music is anything but snoozeworthy. With a stylistic palette that includes high-bounce bluegrass and soulful folk, the band revels in forward-moving melodies, cleanly interwoven harmonies, and the bump-and-pluck of geetar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, and upright bass. Seasoned road warriors with a number of festival gigs under their belts, the Brothers know a group's touring vehicle is its lifeline; hence the title of their new album, Respect the Van.
