We've all heard the common adage "Honesty is the best policy," but when it comes to actually living it, we tend to fall short of this ideal. We fudge resumes, we weasel our way out of speeding tickets, we Photoshop unflattering pictures of ourselves on dating sites. We tell our partners, "Of course those sandals don't make your toes look fat!" Etc. Lying, in some respects, is a means of self-preservation in our increasingly public and demanding world.
