Polica: Show Preview

Poliça is one of those fortunate bands with indie rock stardom written all over it. The four-piece treats its music — soulful, sparse pop built out of electronics, bass, drums, and vocals, all recently captured on February's Give You the Ghost — with the same kind of finesse one expects from, say, The XX. Channy Leaneagh's voice is a lean and enigmatic thing; the singer also uses Auto-Tune to careful effect, which seems likely to inspire a rash of thinkpieces on how the effect is officially indie-cool now. Poliça hails from Minneapolis, an increasingly fertile hub of musical talent, and recently tripped to Chicago for Lollapalooza, despite the project being only a little over a year old. Finally, that "ç" in the name gives the outfit an extra dash of flair — as if it really needed it.
