You've (hopefully) never contemplated what the aural interiors of a Pokémon's genitals sound like, but Rustie sure has. "Inside Pikachu's Cunt," a cut from the acclaimed Glasgow-rooted producer born Russell Whyte, is a sparkle-filled dreamland of big hooks and bubbling, blooming synths — a vivid approximation of that remarkably bizarre visual. The videogame connection syncs well with Rustie, as his 2011 debut album, Glass Swords (released by the venerable Warp Records), has all the fluorescence of a 16-bit platformer's soundtrack given a high-def revamp. Realistically, Glass Swords will be predominantly consumed by teens and twentysomethings, but Rustie's pulsating, rubbery tunes have a naïve sweetness that could click with a much younger audience. If any electronica up-and-comer could score a Dreamworks CGI movie, it's this dude.
