You know you’ve lost your outlaw status when the corporate sponsors roll in, and so it is with extreme sports. Gone are the days of rough and tumble bike messengers killing time at Montgomery station, San Francisco architects hating on skateboarders, and Willie Brown verbally duking it out with Critical Mass. Even Raza Park got a makeover in the aughts, embracing its given name, Potrero del Sol, and boasting an excellent, municipally funded skate park frequented by local families. But just because some skaters now wear Toyota-branded gear, doesn't mean it's not still fun to watch. There’s no need to travel out to the Mission for ramps this weekend, since the first ever city edition of Dew Tour is in town. Now in its eighth year, Dew Tour is turning S.F. streets into a temporary playground for action sports enthusiasts and spectators. So park the Prius, break out your old "Skateboarding Is Not a Crime" t-shirt, and come downtown for skateboarding, BMX, and FMX competitions, fan courses, live music, and probably a lot of Mountain Dew. Also on board are special appearances by athletes and California natives Paul Rodriguez, Ryan Sheckler, and Ryan Nyquist.
