• Honey Soundsystem paid tribute to under-appreciated S.F. DJ Patrick Cowley with a special party at Holy Cow. The producer of Sylvester's "You Make Me Feel Mighty Real" was honored in a headlining set by DJ Daniel Wang, who cued up Cowley's records without stopping to get sentimental.

• Lil B continues to surprise us, this time by trying out for the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Golden State Warriors' D-League basketball team. He didn't make the cut — but at least he lived up to his crazy promise.

• Here's something to thank Myspace for: The rebooted social network is having Z-Trip and Switch play a free show at Mighty on Thursday, Nov. 1. As long as you're of age, all you've got to do is RSVP online.

Fizzle

• Shocking: The S.F. Travelodge on Market Street is accused of not accepting the credit cards of black musicians based on their race. Brick and Mortar Music Hall's Jason Perkins says a manager at the hotel declined to take the credit card of Leo Nocentelli, the guitarist for the Meters. Hotel reps did not return requests for comment.

• Guns N' Roses played a stunningly terrible set at Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit, according to videos. A bloated and unrecognizable Axl Rose somehow forgot the words to "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Welcome to the Jungle" — and acoustic guitars didn't fit either song.

• Bob Dylan proved disappointing at Bill Graham Civic: While he's obviously got a thick catalog of important songs, he doesn't have the voice or timing to sing them onstage. His vocals Thursday came out as a deathly croak, making classics like "Tangled Up in Blue" and "All Along the Watchtower" largely impossible to decipher.
