Japandroids: Show Preview

How much noise can two people make? Don't answer until you've seen Japandroids, a Vancouver rock duo whose joyous, room-filling fury seems far too large to come from simply a guitar and drums. And it's not mere racket: There's a case to be made for the June-released Celebration Rock as guitar-band record of the year, so well does it distill the energy of raging tempos, blaring six-strings, and howling, party-filled nights into seven original songs. (Plus one great cover of the Gun Club's "For the Love of Ivy.") Shout-along anthems like "Fire's Highway" and "Adrenaline Nightshift" were made to fill big rooms, so come looking for a sweaty good time — and bring your earplugs.
