Chairman Kamau

It’s hard to be objective about the brilliance of W. Kamau Bell. Earlier this year, the San Francisco native built a bridge between stand-up performer and journalist when he shared his deep love of the Bay Area comedy scene via a recurring column for SF Weekly's arts blog. He abandoned the post only because the wind took him to New York to star in Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, his own Chris Rock-produced weekly half-hour series that debuted on FX in August. Each episode of Totally Biased combines his astute social and political commentary with the opinions of well-known comics such as Wanda Sykes and Lewis Black, as well as people on the street. Bell’s wit and humor appeal to common sense and open hearts with a healthy bullshit detector. How appropriate that Bell’s stand-up homecoming takes place at The Fillmore, one of San Francisco’s most legendary venues for rock stars.
