Eddie Izzard is not a comedian so much as an event. A British transvestite who fancies girls, Izzard is master of the non-sequitur — he hops from squirrels to mass murder to Stonehenge with a deftness and frivolity that few have been able to master. In his wickedly funny Dress to Kill performance, recorded here in 1999, Izzard gently chides us for our ignorance of our own history, our mysterious trolley system, and our taxis, “of which there are five!” He’s kicking off a new world tour in the spring, Force Majeure, but tonight is your chance to see Izzard do some small venue fine-tuning of his sure-to-be-stellar act. It’s pretty rare to get the chance to see a performer the New York Times called “the most brilliant comedian of his generation” for so cheap. Get a head start on the latest round of Izzard quotes you’ll surely be sharing with all your friends.
First Friday, Saturday of every month, 7:30 & 10 p.m.; Thu., Jan. 17. Starts: Jan. 4. Continues through Jan. 19, 2013
