• Chelsea Wolfe and King Dude ruled Great American Music Hall, despite the lack of electric guitars. Their gloomy acoustic folk felt perfect inside the elegant venue, and showed that despite the artists' reliance on the studio, they're both talented songwriters.

• Inveterate West Coast punk band NOFX is about to turn 30, so we rounded up its 10 most controversial moments. Was it distributing what fans thought was urine at a show in Austin? Or singing on TV that President Bush "loves dick"?

• We celebrated the 45th anniversary of Otis Redding's "(Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay," which was apparently written while Redding stayed on Bill Graham's houseboat in Sausalito. Tragically, Redding died in a plane crash before ever hearing the song that would become his signature.

Fizzle

• Sum 41 still exists, although the Canadian pop-punkers looked a bit worse for wear at the Regency. The whole night felt like a reality show, where openers Hunter Valentine were one empty brag away from getting voted off the stage. But at least the headliners played "Fat Lip."

• We're thrilled to see Morrissey booking another Bay Area show. But we can't forget that he's canceled the last three in a row, often at the last minute. Will his February and March dates hold up? We're hopeful, but not optimistic.

• We don't hate One Direction — "What Makes You Beautiful" is stupidly catchy — but this new song and video, "Kiss You," is a nightmare. It's like every obvious, upbeat, boy band single in history got mashed together and rolled into a giant ball of hyperactive clichés.
