Bloom Town

100 rare and historic erupting magnolias are at their peak right now and you could be there to see it. The San Francisco Botanical Garden invites you to witness this fragrant riot of vibrant pink and white flowers, one of the most distinguished collections outside of China, while readying for the Lunar New Year. There's no better way to celebrate the Year of the Snake than to catch this magnificent floral spectacle. Learn about Chinese herbal medicine, make your own succulent vertical garden, or take moonlit strolls; this and much more is part of the garden's special programming in February. This weekend is especially ripe with festivities. On Saturday, you can see lion and folk dances performed by the Sunset Recreation Center Dance Troupe, learn to make lanterns with magnolia petals, and pot your own plant. Today the excitement continues with the Family Lunar New Year Celebration, including tai chi performances, sword play, dragon dancers, and a special storytime for kids at the library.
