At one time, the terms "pop," "sweet," and "dissonance" were totally incompatible — how could you enjoy all of 'em at the same time in the same song? Seattle-spawned Seapony routinely makes an art of that feat. Inspired by the rough-hewn tunefulness of the U.K.'s C86 bands — including the Pastels and Talulah Gosh — along with American indie rockers Velocity Girl, Seapony spin panoramas of dreamy, love-struck melodies wrapped in blankets of bittersweet, fuzzed-out bliss 'n' mystery. This show is lent savor by opener Rose Melberg, formerly of Tiger Trap and the Softies, two combos that helped define American indie-pop in the '90s.
