As long as people have been able to wonder, they’ve wondered about the meaning of life. But George Hammondhas done far more than wonder. The author of Conversations with Socrates, The Gospel According to Andrew, and Rational Idealism can explain the patterns and desires of our personalities, wax philosophical about the influence of Pythagoras on Periclean Athens, and even negotiate corporate mergers and acquisitions. Now that’s what we call a well-rounded education, and the regular lecturer presents more of it tonight with The Four Almost Rational Explanations of Life. Part of the Monday Night Philosophy series, tonight’s event focuses on Hammond’s four prime contenders for the meaning of life. He first explores the positives and negatives of each theory, and then takes on the age-old “just in case” theory of religion known as Pascal’s Wager. If you’ve made it this far without your head spinning, then you should probably go. Take notes for the folks at home.
