If you've been nursing a nagging desire to expose yourself to Bolivian bird dances from 800 B.C., Kathak interpretations of 12th century Sufi poems, buck jumping, trick roping, Bollywood styling, and American Sign dance but just didn't know when you would find the time, look no further. Hit three millennia and five continents with 10 Bay Area dance companies representing countries from Poland to the Philippines for the closing weekend of the 35th annual San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival. Distinguished at last year's Dance/USA conference with an award from Mayor Ed Lee for its commitment to honoring diversity and culture in the Bay Area, the SF Ethnic Dance Festival presents a colossal lineup of performers from classical, folk, and social traditions, with community groups featured alongside internationally renowned artists. Saturday's family matinee offers half price tickets for children 12 and under.
